Affordable Housing Production
Affordable housing projects funded by the Division of Housing and Community Development and completed since 1994. DHCD funds developers to build and maintain affordable units across the city.
501 projects account for 19,249 units, spanning fiscal years 1995 through 2026. Rental is the most common project type at 242 projects, followed by special needs at 128 and homeownership at 109. Each row records total units alongside accessible, sensory, and visitable unit counts, so accessibility can be measured directly.
development_type separates new construction from rehabilitation of vacant buildings and preservation of occupied ones. Read this against vacant_indicators_bldg to see where rehabilitation has returned vacant structures to use.

Known Issues
25 of 501 projects have no geometry and sort to the end of the file. They hold attributes but cannot be mapped.
project_type and development_type hold multiple values separated by semicolons, such as "Rental;Special Needs;Mixed Use". Grouping on the raw column treats each combination as its own category. Split on ";" to count by individual type.
Both columns also mix a real null with the literal strings "null" and "NULL". Filter all three.
The dataset covers DHCD-funded projects only. Affordable housing built without DHCD funding does not appear.
