Zoning Base Districts
Boundaries of Philadelphia's zoning base districts under the zoning code enacted in December 2011 and effective 22 August 2012. A base district sets what may be built on a parcel and how it may be used.
29,205 polygons carry a district code in long_code, such as RSA-5 or CMX-2, and a broader grouping in zoninggroup. Residential and residential mixed-use account for 17,839 polygons, commercial 9,020, industrial 1,406, and special purpose 940. RSA-5, the row-house district that defines much of the city, is the single most common code at 8,730 polygons.
long_code joins to zoning_descriptions on new_code to get a readable name for every code. All 29,205 rows match. Columns for pending and sunset legislation track districts under active amendment.
