Daily precipitation forecast from Climate Hazards Center's CHIRPS-GEFS (CHIRPS3-bias-corrected NCEP GEFSv12, downscaled to daily with IMERGv7-Late), global 60N-60S at ~5km, 2001-present, as cloud-optimized GeoTIFF.
CHIRPS3-GEFS is a version of the GEFSv12 product that is bias corrected based on the CHIRPS3 distribution. IMERGv7-Late is used to downscale to a daily product.
CHIRPS-GEFS is a bias-corrected and downscaled version of NCEP Global Ensemble Forecast System (GEFS) version 12 precipitation forecasts made to be spatially compatible with Climate Hazards Center InfraRed Precipitation with Stations (CHIRPS) data. The CHIRPS-GEFS data set provides next 5-day to 15-day precipitation forecasts, updated daily, at a spatial resolution of ~5 km across the globe.
Files are updated daily in place. Each run writes the latest CHIRPS-GEFS issue's 16 daily forecasts (the issue day plus 15 days of lead time), overwriting any earlier forecast for the same dates. Past dates therefore hold the forecast issued on that day (lead 0), and upcoming dates hold the most recent forecast. Earlier forecast issues are not kept.
