PLATEAU is Japan's national open 3D city data project. We converted its CityGML data into analysis-ready formats for every city where CityGML is available, and we'll keep adding cities as PLATEAU releases them.
building_lod0 collection for faster chunked access to specific areas.items.parquet file for an overview of all items and assets.Original PLATEAU (National Government 3D project) building data are provided in the CityGML 3D format. We extracted LOD0 geometries (footprint 2D polygons) and their attributes and exported them as GeoParquet. The data are converted with a Python script into one fixed schema: every city has the same columns, NULL where the source has no value. We kept attributes as much as possible, omitted some based on our judgement, and added several attributes such as heights and areas computed from the original 3D geometries.
Coverage: 303 PLATEAU datasets (fiscal years 2020-2025), 29,290,201 buildings in 45 prefectures. PLATEAU does not cover all of Japan (about 1,720 municipalities); coverage grows every year.
Polygon and centroid data have a gml_id column which you can use to join attributes from the other tables of the same city (flateau-v2-by-city). The KD-tree partitioned footprints (flateau-v2-kdtree) are a standalone buildings layer and are not meant to be joined with the other tables.
You can download and use our data freely under CC-BY 4.0 license. We used PLATEAU data so you also need to follow their terms of use.

sapporo-shi-01100/sapporo-shi-01100_building_centroid_lod0.parquetplateau-01100-sapporo-shi-2020) are in the item JSON (plateau:fiscal_year, plateau:dataset_id).Format: building_lod0 and building_centroid_lod0 are GeoParquet 2.0 (lon/lat, EPSG:6668, ZSTD, Hilbert-ordered); the other tables are plain Parquet.
Types are the Parquet/Arrow types. Examples are the first non-NULL value in the data; "Null" (text) is a literal string in the source, not a missing value. spec_ja is copied verbatim from the PLATEAU object list; the English definition is ours.
Both tables have the same columns; only the geometry differs (Polygon vs Point). The last three rows (dataset_id, also_in_dataset_ids, kdtree_cell) are columns in the KD-tree files only.
One row per building element that has a facility name, class or total floor area (placeholder elements are dropped).
