Planet imagery of the M7.4 earthquake that struck western Colombia on 10 August 2026 at 12:34 UTC, with an epicentre 5 km south of San José del Palmar, Chocó (4.844°N, 76.242°W) at 110 km depth. The intermediate depth spread strong shaking across a wide area of the Pacific cordillera — Chocó, Valle del Cauca, Cauca and Risaralda — and USGS assigned an orange PAGER alert; an M5.0 aftershock followed at 13:18 UTC. Post-event coverage began the same day: 57 PlanetScope scenes (~3 m, 15:31 and 16:17 UTC) spanning the cordillera from Risaralda south to Cauca and including the epicentre, and two SkySat collects (~0.66 m, 19:56 UTC) over Quibdó, the capital of Chocó. It continued over the following days: three SkySat collects over Cali and two PlanetScope scenes over the Quindío coffee axis on 11 August, then on 13 August a second SkySat pass over Quibdó and three Pelican scenes (~0.62 m) over the Pacific port of Buenaventura — the first Pelican imagery in this catalog. A pre-event baseline from the Planet global quarterly basemap (Q2 2026, 1 April – 1 July) covers the same region at ~4.8 m for before/after comparison. Two caveats worth knowing before you write a fetch loop:
Python-urllib User-Agent. Send a
browser or curl UA if you use urllib; requests, curl, GDAL/rasterio, rio-tiler and
DuckDB all work as-is.aws s3 ls; navigate the STAC
links instead — every object links to its parent, children and items../post-event/catalog.json./pre-event/catalog.jsonfile:size and file:checksum (sha256 multihash, 1220-prefixed) so a download can be verified.proj:code.
