Harmonized Field Boundary Data

Field boundary datasets published by government bodies — from their agricultural subsidy registers (IACS/LPIS), cadastres, statistics and mapping programmes — harmonized into the fiboa schema with fiboa-cli and republished as cloud-native GeoParquet and PMTiles. 60 collections (AT, BE, BG, CH, CZ, DE, DK, EC, EE, ES, FI, FR, HR, IE, IT, JP, LT, LU, LV, NL, NZ, PT, SE, SI, SK, US). In 56 collections the boundaries are declared — they come from farmers' subsidy applications, or from the parcel register built on those declarations. es_cn, jp, nz are mapped by an authority from imagery or survey; us_usda_cropland is inferred from imagery by a model. Each collection's boundaries field says which. 47 hold crop fields — one declared crop on one parcel — 133,233,067 in their latest editions and 529,613,830 across all 220 editions together, counting a field once per edition it appears in. The other 13 hold field blocks (reference parcels, which several fields can share): 6,211,224 and 8,791,347 over 22 editions. The two are not added together. Each collection is one source dataset, partitioned by edition year; s3://ftw/harmonized-field-data/*/latest/*.parquet reads the newest edition of every collection (S3 through the Source Cooperative proxy, see the agent guide). Hosted by Fields of the World on Source Cooperative; the metadata is maintained in the harmonized-field-data-catalog repository, where corrections are welcome as pull requests. Access

Everything is static files on object storage: query them in place with DuckDB, GeoPandas or any GeoParquet reader, and render the PMTiles with MapLibre. Single files are plain https URLs; globs use the S3 form of the same prefix through the Source Cooperative proxy (s3://ftw/harmonized-field-data, endpoint https://data.source.coop, anonymous), because * needs a listing that https does not provide. License

Each collection carries the license of its source data provider (see the table and each collection.json). The catalog metadata, styles and tooling are Apache-2.0, in the repository.

Provenance

A mirror: every collection links its original source (rel: via) and the fiboa data survey entry describing it, and records the fiboa-cli version that converted it. Conversion logic lives in fiboa-cli; this repository only orchestrates publication. Previously published at source.coop/fiboa/data.
